The Acura ILX belongs in the C-Segment. Accura based it on the 9th Gen Civic Sedan. It replaced the Canadian-exclusive Acura CSX. It is the first gasoline-electric hybrid car from Acura. The standard version was in production from 2012 to 2022 for model years of 2013 to 2022. Similarly, the hybrid version was in production from 2012 to 2014 for the model years of 2013 to 2014. They assembled the models at the Greensburg, Indiana plant from 2012 to 2014. Later, they assembled the model at the Marysville Auto Plant from 2015 to 2022. The 4-door sedan used a front-engine and front-wheel drive layout.

The Acura ILX is preceded by Acura CSX, Acura TSX, and Acura RSX, and succeeded by Accura Integra. The model is related to the Honda Civic, sharing many features. Acura unveiled the concept version at the 2012 North American International Auto Show. Later, the production version was showcased at the 2012 Chicago Auto Show. They started mass production at the Greensburg, Indiana plant from April 2012 and they began sales in May 2012. The model sold over 12K units in the United States and over 2k units in Canada for the launch year of 2012. The following year, it sold over 20k units in the United States and over 3k units in Canada.

Models and Engines

The Accura ILX came with three different engine options - 1.5 L inline-4 (for hybrids), 2.0 L inline-4, and 2.4 L inline-4 engines. The 2.0 L engine is fitted to the 5-speed automatic transmissions from 2013 to 2015. Similarly, the 2.4 L engine is mated either with a 6-speed manual transmission from 2013 to 2015 or an 8-speed dual-clutch transmission from 2016 to 2022. Also, they used a CVT transmission on a 1.5 L hybrid from 2013 to 2014. For the hybrid models, they used the IMA parallel hybrid, while using a lithium-ion battery. Accura added two facelift versions for the 2016 model year and the 2019 model year.

Honda offered multiple 4-cylinder gasoline engines for the Acura ILX. In addition, the hybrid model, which happens to be Accura's first hybrid used a 1.5 L inline-5. It shares the gas-electric powertrain with the Civic hybrid. The engine produces horsepower and torque of 111 hp @ 5,500 RPM and 172 Nm of 1,000-3,000 RPM. The 2 L (L series) engine pumped out horsepower and torque of 150 hp @ 6,500 RPM and 190 Nm @ 4,300 RPM respectively.

Later, the 2016-2022 models used a 2.4 L engine that pumped out horsepower and torque of 201 hp @ 6,800 RPM and 244 Nm @ 3,800 RPM respectively. The second-generation engine offers more power and performance. It used a 2 L inline -4 turbocharged engine pulling 272 hp and a 3 L turbocharged V6 engine pulling 355 hp.
