Used Acura El Transmission Years

Used Acura EL Transmission

Turbo Autoparts goes the extra mile in addressing car issues in luxury brands. One such luxury brand that is primarily based in United States is Accua. The 'Acu' in Acura, a latin word stands for mechanical precision. Besides U.S, they operate in other North American regions including Mexico and Canada. In addition, the brand also sell cars in Panama and Kuwait. Used Acura EL transmission enjoys demand worldwide.

In the U.S., they sold more models than BMW and Benz in luxury division. However, Acura is a luxury division of the Japanese giant, the Honda. Hence, it inspired other Japanese brands, the Toyota and Nissa to come up with Lexus and Infiniti marques respectively. The logo is styled as Calipher, indicating a mechanical precision. The 'Acu' in Acura translates to being mechanically precise. Importantly, the Acura introduced the Honda Vtec to U.S. automotive markets.

Acura EL

Acura EL is a subcompact luxury car launched in the United States. Honda built the models at the Alliston, Ontario plant. It happens to be the first Acura model built in Canada. Also, it is exclusive to the Canadian markets. In addition, it is a rebadged Honda Civic with high-end features. Acura didn't offer the Type-S trim on the EL model. It proved as one of the top-selling models in Canada. It accounted for 51% of annual Acura sales in Canada in its first year.

Also, it remained the top seller in Canada between 1997 to 2003. The Acura CSX replaced the Acura EL for its 2006 model year. Like EL, it is sold exclusively in Canada. The Acura EL went into production from 1997 to 2005. Similarly, the Acura EL replaced the Acura Legend in Canada. Moreover, the EL spanned two generations, before being discontinued in 2006 to leave a way for 2006.

First Generation EL

Honda decided to replace the low-selling Acura Integra with the CL model. Don Herner and Kouichirou Fujii designed the model. It uses a 1.6 L SOHC VTEC variable valve timing electronic control system. It pumps out horsepower and torque of 127 hp @ 6,600 RPM and 145 Nm @ 5,500 RPM respectively. The inline-4 engine belongs to the Honda D series engines. The engine features in 1996–1997 Honda Del Sol, 1996–2000 Honda Civic EX, 1996-1998 Honda Civic Coupe, and 996–2000 Honda Civic. It packs a compression rate of 9.6:1 over the D 16 Series configuration. The engine is mated with either a 4-speed automatic or a 5-speed manual transmission. The 5-speed manual transmission featured in models post 1999.

Second Generation EL

The second generation Acural EL went into production from 2001 to 2005. It is related to the Honda Element, Honda CR-V, and Acura RSX. It uses a 1.7 L SOHC inline-4 engine pumping out 127 hp. Hence the model is commonly dubbed as the 1.7 EL. It also features a VTEC variable valve timing control system. The engine returns a horsepower of 127 hp @ 6,300 RPM and torque of 155 Nm @ 4,800 RPM. It used a four-valves-per-cylinder type valvetrain.

The VTEC switchover is limited to 3,200 RPM. With a bore and stroke dimensions of 2.95' X 3.72', it offered a compression ratio of 9:9:1. It uses the default 4-speed automatic transmission. Additionally, they offer a 5-speed manual transmission as an option for car owners. At Turbo Autoparts, we offer both types of transmissions. Our engineering experts help choose the best trims suited to your requirements. We sell all connecting parts often purchased with the transmission.
