Honda launched their luxury and performance division, the Acura. Since 1986, they have been primarily based in North America. In the U.S., they started out competing against the likes of BMW and Benz. Moreover, they first introduced Honda's VTEC in the U.S. automotive markets. They inspired Toyota and Nissan to launch their luxury marques, the Lexus and Infiniti respectively. From 6-speed manual to dual-clutch transmissions, they have brought it all to the United States. Due to tech imports and newer models, they revived their fortunes post-2000. Since 1987, Acura has sold over 100,000 units of luxury models in the United States alone, year after year. Used Acura RLX transmisison is hence worth a lot in the United States.
Besides the U.S., they also sell in Canada, Mexico, Panama, and Kuwait. Also, they have sold previously in China, Hong Kong, Russia and Ukraine. Nevertheless, Acura inspired Japanese brands to launch their luxury brands in the United States. Firstly, Toyota came up with the Lexus. Later, Nissan launched their Infiniti. Acura sold their units in Canada, Mexico, Panama and Kuwait. However, it was never launched in Japan, after initial plans didn't eventuate amidst the financial crisis of 2007 to 2008. However, they sold in good numbers in U.S. due to its premium quality. The refined driving experience is impossible to resist.

The U.S. sales for RLX Sport Hybrid and Facelift began in September 2014 and November 2017 respectively.

The engine returned an EPA-estimated fuel economy of 20 miles per gallon in the city, and 30 miles per gallon on the highway, aggregating a combined fuel economy of 23 miles per gallon.

Its 24-valve SOHC engine offers a compression ratio of 11.5:1. It uses the bore and stroke dimensions of 3.50' x 3.66'. With Earth Dreams technology, they increase fuel efficiency by at least 10%. In addition, it employed the Variable Cylinder Management (VCM) for higher fuel efficiency.
The FWD base RLX model used a 6-speed automatic transmission from model years 2014 to 2017. Later, they used 10-speed automatic transmissions for the model years of 2018 to 2020.
