Acura Tsx

Acura sold its compact excutive car from 2003 to 2014, the Acura TSX. It spanned two generations, both of which are Honda Accord derivatives. It's more of a compact and sporting-oriented car than its U.S. counterpart. All the TSX models were built in Sayama, Japan. It was sold under the Acura brand in the United States, replacing the Integra sedan. The initial TSX debuted for the 2004 model year in April 2002.

As a rebadged version, it sold as the 4th gen Honda Inspire in Japan. The 2nd Gen TSX replaced the 4th Gen Honda Inspire. Later, the final generation of TSX introduced a V6 option in 2010. Later, Honda discontinued the TSX and larger TL in 2014. Then, the TLX replaced both the models, as a successful entry-level Acura option. The Acura TSX sold close to 19k units in 2003. It sold over 30k units annually from 2004 to 2008. It bagged the 2008 Wheels Car of the year and many other awards.

First Generation TSX

The first generation TSX made its debut at the 2003 North American International Auto Show directly as a production model. It used a 2.4 L inline-4 engine, part of the Honda K series. Producing 200 hp, it was mated with a 6-speed manual transmission. Additionally, they offer a 5-speed automatic with a no-cost option in the United States. The 2006 TSX added 5 hp to increase the horsepower from 200 hp to 205 hp. More features were added in the 2007 and 2008 model years.

The K24A2 used in first generation TSX pumped out a horsepower of 200-205 hp @ 6,800-7000 RPM and 222 Nm @ 4,500 RPM. The first generation TSX is also called the Honda Accord. Moreover, the K24A2 engine also featured intelligent variable timing, commonly dubbed as the i-VTEC. Unlike the other Honda K series engines, it used variable timing on both the intake and exhaust cams in the premises of its three-rocker design.

Second Generation TSX

The redesigned TSX debuted at the 2008 New York International Auto Show. The new TSX is larger and bulkier than its predecessors. It went into production from 2008 to 2014 for model years from 2009 to 2014. The second gen TSX came in two different body styles - a 4-door sedan and a 5-door station wagon. It offered both the Honda K series engine Honda J series engine. The 2.4 L inline-4 K series engine pulled a horsepower and torque of 201 hp @ 7,000 RPM and 233 Nm @ 4,300 RPM respectively. It used a compression ratio of 11.0:1.

The 3.5 L V6 Honda K series engine produced power and torque of 280 hp @ 6,200 RPM and 344 Nm @ 5000 RPM respectively. It uses a multi-point fuel injection system. With a bore and stroke dimensions of 3.5' x 3.66', it offered a compression ratio of 11.2:1. Accura maintained that the new engine distributed power over a wider RPM range, which puts more power behind the wheels along with increased torque.
