Ford Figo

The Figo is a subcompact hatchback from Ford. Ford India manufactured these models in their Chennai and Sanand plants. They based it on the Mark V European Ford Fiesta hatchback. Ford also sold the Figo models in emerging markets from 2010 to 2021. Also called the Ford Ka, they went into production from 2010 to 2021. This 5-door hatchback used the front-engine, front-wheel drive layout.

The model replaced the Ford Fiesta in Mexico and Ford Ikon in India. It is one of the most economical models to go around. These models use the most efficient of Ford engines including both petrol and diesel variants. The engines are mated to either 5-speed manual transmissions or 6-speed dual-clutch automatic. It spanned two generations to date. 

First Generation Figo

The first generation Ford Figo went into production from 2010 to 2015. It is also called the Ford Ikon Hatch in Mexico. The cars are sold in Mexico, the Middle East, and South African automobile markets. The first generation Ford Figo used 5 different engines - 1.2 Duratec Petrol, 1.4 Duratorq Diesel, 1.4 Duratec Petrol, 1.6 Duratec Petrol, and 1.6 Duratec Petrol. Expect a 1.6 Duratec engine (which uses automatic), all engines are mated to a 5-speed manual transmission. Similarly, except for 1.4 Duratorq Diesel (which used SOHC), all other engines use DOHC.

The 1.2 L Duratec Petrol pumped out 70 horses @ 6,250 RPM and 102 Nm of torque @ 4,000 RPM. The 1.4 L Duratorq Diesel pumped out 68 horses @ 4,000 RPM and 160 Nm of torque @ 2,000 RPM. The 1.4 L Duratorq Petrol pumped out 83 horses @ 6,000 RPM and 127 Nm of torque @ 4,000 RPM. The 1.6 L Duratorq Petrol pumped out 98 horses @ 6,500 RPM and 142 Nm of torque @ 4,000 RPM. Finally, the 1.6 Duratec Petrol produced 98 horses @ 6,500 RPM and 142 Nm of torque @ 4,000 RPM.

Second Generation Figo

The second-generation Ford Figo went into production from 2015 to 2021. Also called the Ford Ka, it's available in 2 body styles - a 5-door hatchback and a 4-door sedan. It is related to the sixth-generation Ford Fiesta model. It used three different engines - 1.5 L Ti-VCT petrol, 1.2 L Ti-VCT petrol, and 1.5 L TDCi diesel. The 1.5 L TDCi diesel engine is mated to a 6-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission. The 1.2 Ti-VCT petrol engine and the 1.5 L TDCi diesel engine are also mated to 5-speed manual transmissions. Ford India assembled the second generation Ford Figo units at the Sanand plant, in Gujarat.
