Used Laforza Engine Models

Origins of Laforza

Rayton-Fissore Magnum is an Italian luxury off-road SUV. They produced it on a small scale from 1985 to 1998. Laforza is the American version of the V8-powered luxury car. Initially, it served for military and police usage. Once, fitted with fine Italian leather, the interior triggered a taste similar to Maserati Biturbo. Throughout its existence, it wanted to replace the Range Rover, and designed meticulously to suit that sort of requirements. It wanted to better on Rovers’ weaknesses such as offering luxurious interiors and economically smaller engines. Turbo diesel engines of Laforza improve fuel economy drastically. Laforza added a facelift, improving overall with other cosmetic changes before being marketed again as a refreshed model in 1998. People now seek rare vehicles, which almost became extinct in the Auto industry, and search for used Laforza engine, transmission, and other connected components.

To pin it down, Laforza has its origins in the Rayton-Fissore Magnum 4×4. It’s based on a mid-weight military off-roader, known as the Iveco 40 PM 10. Though the original magnum employed the same turbodiesel engine as Iveco, the engine in Rayton-Fissore Magnums underwent some decisive changes. They manufactured over 6,000 magnums in over 18 years of existence, of which 1200 went in as the U.S.-specific Laforzas. Around 1000 magnums fitted with turbodiesel engines were distributed to the Italian police forces. Nevertheless, Rayton-Fissore didn’t have a terrific sales team to market Laforzas.

Rarity of Laforza

Laforza in Italian loosely translated to “the force”. The makers wanted it to compete against Britain’s Range Rover. It was marketed in the USA, not once but twice, generating meager sales as well. They marketed it in periods – 1989-’93 and 1998-’03. However, it’s a forgotten brand in the new millennium. Sometimes, the cars arise for sale in exclusive auctions, especially in non-US, and non-Europe regions. Unconventionally, Laforza had complex origins in Rayton-Fissore’s 1985 Magnum 4×4. It flaunted the smoothest of stylings from Tom Tjaarda. Tjaarda comes from both Fiat 124 Spider and DeTomaso Pantera fame. Moreover, the robust underpinnings arise from IVECO military vehicles. In addition, this durable design uses an 18-gauge steel body mounted on heavy-duty ladder fame. These robust SUVs used four and six-cylinders to power their design. The built-alone warrants a search for this rare gem.

Albiet a fierry opening in the U.S., Laforza never took off. It sold meager numbers as early as the 90s. Also, it was the time, the importing plant closed down. Later, a Californian-based firm purchased Laforza assets including unfinished, new, and old stocks. Along with a facelift and reintroduction, the vehicles cost 60 to 70 grands. The price varied depending on engine variants and trim levels. Within the early 2000s, supplies dried up almost entirely. The luxury segment was saturated so much that Laforza never found its foot again in the U.S. Ultimately, the Italian Luxury Brand can’t even manage over 1200 sales in the U.S. That’s also the reason, you don’t hear about Laforza often least alone seeing one on U.S. Roads. It appears rarely in markets, especially during auctions as of late. Though the vehicles are somewhat available, the auto parts are very rare to find. That’s exactly where Turbo Autoparts come in.

Used Laforza Engine

Used Laforza Engine is a rare find in today’s market. At Turbo Autoparts, we pull off even the impossible. We have all variants of the Laforza engines that operated in the U.S. Originally, Magnum came with two variants of engine – petrol and diesel. The 2393 cc Sofim turbo diesel engine manufactures anywhere from 90 PS to 110 PS. However, the 2 L 4-cylinder petrol engine easily pumps up over 138 PS. Additionally, the 2.5 L Alfa Romeo sourced V6 pumps up to 160 PS. Their V6 is marketed as the Magnum VIP and only 120 of that V6 engines were built throughout the history of Magnum.

In today’s sense, it’s a rarity of all rarities. Then, the VM Motori turbodiesel engine, BMW turbodiesel, and BMW 3.4 liter inline six engines replaced the Fiat and Alfa Romeo engines at the Turin Motor Show in 1988. The brand promoted it as an updated version of its time. Final examples in the U.S. used supercharged GM Vortec V-8s. U.S. version included Mustang Ford V-8s, fitted to full-on four-wheel drive. They tied up with a variety of makes to bring the best trim setting suited to U.S. market demands. Post discontinuation in the U.S., a Californian firm purchased off the unfinished, new, and old inventory.

Evolution of Laforza

Laforza is the U.S. version of Rayton-Fissore Magnum, an Italian luxury auto brand. They first arrived in the U.S. in late 1989. Initially, it arrived here with some modifications to the base frame. Other changes are in line with detailing suitably with the 5 L Ford V8 Engine, dubbed as the 5.0. It coupled with Selec-Trac and transferred to Chrysler. Both chassis and interior were done back in Italy to superior standards.

  1. 1989 to 1993: Pininfarina updated the Laforza 5 L engine before final assembly. Additionally, it featured a Ford 5.0 V8 engine with automatic overdrive.
  2. 1995 to 1998: Laforza GT equipped with 5 L Ford V8 gained 5.8 SEFI V8 in some vehicles. It retained the same transfer case and transmission.
  3. 1998 to 2003: With another restructuring in 1998, Laforza transformed into Laforza SpA. It featured a 5 L Ford V8 and 4WD transfer case.
