Used Acura MDX Transmission

Honda launched the Accura, their luxury and performance division in 1986. Primarily based in North America, they sell cars in the United States, Canada, Mexico, Panama, and Kuwait. Despite plans to launch the brand in the Japanese homeland, it didn't happen due to the financial crisis of 2007-08. Moreover, it is a luxury brand from Japanese manufacturers. Thus, used Acura MDX transmission stays more relevant in the United States.

In its initial years, the brand competed with top premium brands like BMW and Mercedes Benz. However, the brand saw brief time of decline in the late 90s, only to be revived again post 2000. Moreover, the success of the marque inspired other Japanese carmakers to launch their own. Toyota came up with Lexus, and Nissan came up with Infiniti. Acura is the first brand to bring Honda's VTEC system to the U.S. territory. The first part of the brand name loosely translates to being mechanically precise. Also, the caliper in the logo styling, a market tool stands for accuracy and precision.

Accura MDX

Acura launched the MDX, a mid-size luxury crossover SUV in 2000. The alphanumeric moniker stands for Multi-Dimensional luxury. Ranked as the second best-selling model in the U.S., it trailed only the Lexus RX. Acura went into production in 2000 for the model years from 2001. It replaced the slow-selling SLX. It went on sale outside the U.S. in 2002. Accura MDX sold as the Honda MDX in Japan and Australia. The Acura MDX spanned four generations in over two decades. They opened an account in the U.S. with sales of exactly 9.750 units in 200. The model sold over 50k units in 2002-2007, 2012,2019, and 2021, in the United States. Such is its dominance, which commands an everlasting demand for used Acura MDX transmission in North America.

First Generation MDX

First Generation MDX was in production from 2000 to 2006 for model years 2001 to 2006. It was assembled in the Alliston, Ontario plant. Frank Paluch engineered this model in 1998 with Catalin Matei's stylings. The 3.5 L V6 engine, a SOHC 24 valve with VTEC is mated to a 5-speed automatic transmission. It produced a horsepower and torque of 240 horses and 332 Nm @ 3000 to 5000 RPM in the first couple of years. The 2003 model offered 260 horses, while the 2004-2006 MDX produced horsepower and torque of 265 hp and 343 Nm respectively. The 2004 Acura MDX raced to a top speed of 137 mph and did a 0 to 60 mph in just over 7 seconds.

Second Generation MDX

Acura unveiled the second generation MDX as a concept car during the New York International Auto Show. The 3.5 L V6 engine pumped out 300 horses @ 6,000 RPM and 366 Nm of torque @ 5,000 RPM. With such power, the car does 0 to 60 mph in just 6.5 seconds. The powerful V6 is mated with a 5-speed automatic in model years 2007 to 2009. Later, they used the 6-speed manual transmission in model years 2010 to 2013.

Third Generation MDX

Third-generation MDX went into production from 2013 to 2020 for model years 2014 to 2020. They assembled the models in the Lincoln, Alabama plant from 2013 to 2017 and East Liberty, Ohio plant from 2017 to 2020. The third generation MDX featured 3.5 L direct-injected V6 with variable cylinder management. Accura offered two transmission options - a 6-speed automatic and a 9-speed automatic. Hence, it is an out-and-out automatic car with no manual options. The hybrid model used a 3 L V6 fitted with a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission. The 3.5 VTEC fitted to a 6-speed or 9-speed automatic transmission pumped out horsepower and torque of 290 hp @ 6,200 RPM and 362 Nm @ 4,700 RPM. The 3.0 VTEC fitted to a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission produced 321 horses @ 6,300 RPM and generated a torque of 392 Nm @ 5,000 RPM.

Fourth Generation MDX

The fourth generation MDX went into production in 2021 for the model year of 2022. They assembled the units at the East Liberty, Ohio plant. It came with two engine options including the 3 L Turbo V6 and 3.5 L V6, both mated with a 10-speed automatic transmission.
