It uses a front engine with an FWD or AWD layout. The second-gen model offered 3.5 L V6. It produced horsepower of 268 hp @ 6,200 RPM and torque of 344 Nm @ 5,000 RPM. This is a 24-valve SOHC iVTEC engine with a multi-point fuel injection system. It offered an EPA-estimated fuel economy of 20 mph in the city, and 28 mph on the highway, aggregating a combined fuel economy of 23 mpg. The V6 engine is mated to a 6-speed automatic transmission.

Third generation RDX

The third generation RDX went into production in 2018 for model years from 2019. Designed by Randall Smock, it was assembled in East Liberty, Ohio Plant. It uses a front engine with an FWD or SH-AWD layout. The first-generation models offered a 2.0 L turbo Honda K series engine. It produced horsepower of 272 hp @ 6,500 RPM and torque of 280 Nm @ 1,600-4,500 RPM. The FWD model offered an EPA-estimated fuel economy of 22 mph in the city, and 28 mph on the highway, aggregating a combined fuel economy of over 24 mpg. The SH-AWD model offered an EPA-estimated fuel economy of 21 mph in the city, and 27 mph on the highway, aggregating a combined fuel economy of over 23 mpg. The 2019 Acura RDX employed a 10-speed automatic transmission. As per Acura, it allows the turbocharged engine to its peak capability in low-end torque.
