Acura TLX

Acura TLX is a 4-door entry-level sedan launched in 2014. It debuted with the 2015 model year. It replaced both the TL and TSX models. With the Acura RLX now defunct, TLX remains the Accura's flagship. First showcased as the TLX prototype, it was designed in the Los Angeles Acura Design Studio. They unveiled the production model at the 2014 New York International Auto Show. Acura entered into production at the Marysville Auto Plant in Ohio, United States. It used a front-engine and front-wheel drive layout. Additionally, they also offered the SH-AWD option. The Acura TLX spanned two generations in the United States. Designed by Jarad Hall in 2011, it featured a splendid performance-based engineering. The model sold over 19k units in 2014 and leaped to over 47k units the next year.

First Generation TLX

The first generation TLX went into production from 2014 to 2020 for model years 2015 to 2020. They assembled the model at Maysville Auto Plant, Ohio. The Acura TLX is also called the Acura TLX-L in China. In China, they assembled the models in the Guangqi Honda Plant. They offered two powertrains for the TLX model. The 2.4 L 4-cylinder DOHC i-VTEC engine used a direct injection fuel system. It is mated with the 8-speed dual-clutch transmission and all-wheel steering (P-AWS). Also, TLX offered a 3.5 L direct fuel-injected V6 engine. The SOHC engine used a VTEC variable valve timing control system. It is mated with a 9-speed automatic transmission. The 3.5 L V6 engine from the Honda J series returned horsepower and torque of 290 hp @ 6,200 RPM and 267 Nm @ 4,500 RPM respectively. The engine returned EPA estimated fuel economy of 21 mph in the city, and 34 mph on the highway, aggregating a combined fuel economy of 25 mpg. Acura also added the 2017 facelift version within the first generation TLX lineups. The models received 9.8 safety ratings in 2015 NHTSA scores.

Second Generation TLX

The second generation TLX went into production in 2020 for model years starting from 2021. Designed by Ben Davidson in 2018, the models are assembled at the Marysville Auto Plant. It offers the 2.0 L inline-4 Honda K Series engine for standard models. However, you get the 3 L V6 Honda J Series engine for type-S models. The power output is 272 horses on 2 L engines and 355 horses on 3 L engines. Regardless, all engines are mated to the 10-speed automatic transmission.
