Acura Vigor

The Vigor is a luxury sedan inspired by the Honda Accord. It was first sold in Japan via Honda Verno dealerships from 1981 to 1995. It sold in the United States from 1991 to 11994 for the model years of 1992 and later. Initially, it sold as the upmarket version of the Honda Accord. The Vigor served as the flagship model until the launch of the Acura Legend. By 1989, it deviated from the Accord with its longitudinal 5-cylinder engine and unique styling. Later, the Acura TL replaced the Acura Vigor in North America.

During the bubble economy phase in Japan, they launched the third generation, 5-cylinder Acura Vigor. It sold as a compact car from 1981 to 1995 and as a mid-size sedan from 1989 to 1995. It spanned three generations, of which the third generation sold as Acura Vigor in the United States. The first and second-generation Vigors are also dubbed as the second and third-generation Honda Accord.

Earlier Generations

The first and second-generation Acura Vigors are sold in Japan. The first-generation Vigor is also labeled as the second-generation Honda Accord. Both the earlier generations were assembled at the Sayama, Saitama plant in Japan. The first generation Vigor offered two 1.8 L inline-4 engines mated with either a 4-speed Hondamatic automatic or a 5-speed manual transmission. Similarly, the second-generation Vigor is also dubbed as the third generation Honda Accord. It went into production from 1985 to 1989. The 4-door compact sedan offers 1.8 L to 1.9 L inline-4 engines fitted to either a 4-speed automatic or 5-speed manual transmission. At Turbo Autoparts, we have these transmissions under the banner of Honda models.
