Ford produced Windstar, a minivan from 1995 to 2007. It spanned three generations in the United States. Also, it is dubbed as the Ford Freestar and Mercury Monterey. Based on the Ford DN5 platform, it is related to the Ford Taurus, Lincoln Continental, and Mercury Sable. It featured two different engines 3.0 L Vulcan V6 and 3.8 L Essex V6, both mated to 4-speed AXOD automatic transmission. The model recorded annual sales of over 200k units in the U.S. alone from 1995 to 1996. The 3.0 L V6 and 3.8 L V6 engines pumped out 150 horses and 200 horses respectively.

Second Generation Windstar

The second generation went into production from 1998 to 2003 for the model years from 1999 to 2003. Designed by Moray Callum in 1996, Ford assembled these models in Oakville, Ontario. Based on the MV1 (WIN126) platform, it featured two different body styles - a 3-door minivan and a 4-door minivan. It featured two different engines - a 3.0 L Vulcan V6 and a 3.8 L Essex V6. The engines are mated to a 4-speed automatic transmission. The model recorded annual sales of over 200k units in the U.S. alone from 1999 to 2000. The 3.0 L V6 and 3.8 L V6 engines pumped out 150 horses and 200 horses respectively. 

Third Generation Windstar

The third-generation Ford Windstar is also marketed as the Mercury Monterey. The first generation went into production from 2003 to 2006 for the model years from 2004 to 2007. Ford assembled these models in Ontario, Canada. Based on the MV1 platform, it sported a 4-door minivan body style. It featured two different engines - 3.9 L Essex V6 and 4.2 L Essex V6, both mated to a 4-speed automatic transmission. The model recorded annual sales of over 100k units in the U.S. alone in 2004. Ford discontinued this model in 2007 model year.
