1.6-Liter Engines: The Ford 1.6L engine lineup features several versions developed over the years. It started with the original Duratec 1.6, followed by the upgraded 1.6 Duratec Ti-VCT that improved performance and efficiency. Ford also introduced the 1.6-liter Duratorq diesel variant, along with the turbocharged 1.6 EcoBoost engine, which became popular in many Ford vehicles during the past decade.

• 1.6 Duratec - This engine belongs to the Ford Sigma engine family and was first introduced in 2002. It delivered around 99 horsepower with an 11.0:1 compression ratio. The 1.6 Duratec powertrain was commonly used in vehicles such as the Ford Focus and the Ford Escape.
  
  
• 1.6 Duratec Ti-VCT - This improved version of the naturally aspirated 1.6 Duratec engine introduced several major upgrades over the earlier model. Enhancements included Variable Valve Timing (VVT), Twin Independent Variable Camshaft Timing (Ti-VCT), redesigned pistons, an updated intake manifold, and revised ECU programming. Despite the improvements, the engine was known for issues related to vibration, engine noise, and knocking. • 1.6 Duratorq DLD-416 - Often referred to as Ford’s “Tiger” engine, this 1.6-liter powertrain was the diesel variant of the 1.6 Duratec lineup. Depending on the specific model and production year, this engine delivers between 118 and 197 horsepower.
• Ford used the 1.6 EcoBoost engine in several popular vehicles, including the Ford C-Max, Ford Transit Connect, Ford Escape, Ford Fiesta ST, Ford Fusion, and the Ford S-Max.
