Used Ford Fusion Engine
Ford Motor Company launched the Ford Fusion, their mid-size car in 2005. It went into production from 2005 to 2020 for the model years between 2006 to 2020. It is also called the Ford Mondel in Europe and South America. Moreover, it replaced the Ford Contour in the United States. This 4-door sedan used either front-engine, front-wheel drive, or front-engine, all-wheel drive layout. It spanned two generations in the United States. Used Ford Fusion engine scores excellently in performance.
Ford Fusion offered gasoline, gas/electric hybrid, and gas/electric variants. It shares the CD2 platform with other Ford models. Also, it bridges the gap between the compact Ford Focus and full-size Ford Taurus. It enjoys exemplary NASCAR and Land Speed Records post-2000. The Car and Driver magazine listed it among the 10 Best Cars for 2009. Also, the Fusion Hybrid bagged the 2010 North American Car of the Year award at the Detroit Auto Show.
First Generation Fusion
The first generation Fusion was built on the Ford C3 platform. It is designed by Mazda as the Mazda G platform. It first used the " new face of Ford" in the first production car. The first generation went into production from 2005 to 2012 for the model years between 2006 to 2012. Designed by Chris Walter in 2002 and 2007, it is assembled in Hermosillo Stamping and Assembly, Mexico. It came available with three trims - S, SE, and SEL. The base S engine is the 160 hp Mazda 2.3 L Duratec 23 inline-4. Also, it is mated with either a 5-speed manual or a 5-speed automatic transmission. Later, the SE and SEL featured the 221 hp 3.0 L Duratec 30 V6. It is mated with the 6-speed automatic, much to the liking of U.S customers.
Later models used the 3.5 Duratec 35 V6 for power and performance boost. The 2.3 L Duratec pumped out 160 horses and 210 Nm of torque. Similarly, the 3.0 L Duratec 30 V6 produced 221 horses and 278 Nm of torque. Later, the 3.5 L Duratec 35 V6 produced 263 horses and 338 Nm of torque. The 2.5 L, 3.0 L and 3.5 L Duratec engines raced from a standstill to 60 miles per hour in 8 seconds, 7.4 seconds, and 6.5 seconds respectively. Moreover, the model is part of the Top Safety Picks in the 2010 Insurance Institute for Highway Safety mid-size category. Later, the first generation includes the 2010 Fusion Hybrid, a gasoline-electric hybrid-powered mid-size sedan model, launched in the U.S. in 2009.
Second Generation Fusion
Ford unveiled the second generation Ford Fusion at the 2012 North American International Auto Show for the 2013 model year. It is based on the Ford CD4 platform. Importantly, it is a classic example of Ford's global 'One-Ford' strategy. The second generation went into production from 2012 to 2020 for the model years between 2013 to 2020. Designed by Chris Hamilton, Kemal Curic, and Dillion Blanski, it was assembled at the Flat Rock Assembly plant in Flat Rock, Michigan. In 2019, this model became the seventh-best-selling car in the U.S. The Duratec 25 inline-4 produced 175 hp @ 6,000 RPM and 237 Nm of torque @ 4,500 RPM.
The 2.0 L Ecoboost turbocharged inline-4 pumped out 240 hp @ 5,500 RPM and 366 Nm @ 3,000 RPM.
